What to do when you can't pay

If you’re under a lot of debt – mortgage, credit cards, student loans, the whole nine yards – and the rug gets pulled out from under you by a job loss or unexpected expense, you may find yourself unable to meet all of your commitments – especially your mortgage payment. That’s where St. Helens Community can help with the following:

  • Request an appointment to meet with our financial counselor
  • Refinance your home loan (and other loans), extending the repayment period, and/or reducing the interest, thereby lowering the payments
  • Modify your loans, to make your payments more affordable
  • If you have a car loan, sell your collateral and repay your loan in its entirety to free up some of your budget to cover your mortgage
